Checking the washer fluid. The washer fluid reservoir is actually glass.Dont know if this was an OEM part, but it appears to be the same sort of era as the vehicle, and isn't on the original sales dockets.

    Anyone know?

And before anyone asks, the hand valve is for the heater, which we still have but is disconnected.

Windscreen washers were never fitted from new on Series 1 in Australia, and in fact were almost unheard of even by the end of Series 1 production.

But they did exist from the early fifties, and a very few vehicle owners did install them. And yes, the reservoirs were almost always glass on the early ones - plastic materials did not become viable until probably the early sixties. If you remember, series Landrovers retained a metal brake fluid reservoir until the 1970s, for example.

The first car I actually owned with a windscreen washer was a 1960 Citroen, and worth noting that at that time it may have been the only Australian assembled car fitted with one as standard.

The vehicle was bought and picked up in England from the factory,i think from memory the passengers side windscreen wiper was an extra.

Pretty sure the washers were fitted shortly after.

The LH wiper remained an extra until two wipers became a legal requirement (in whatever market you were in). My 1961 2a, purchased S/H in The Alice in 1966, had only one wiper - I had to fit a second one to register it in NSW.

    Spot on

My brother had a good scratch around and found this, using other info, looks like it was fitted around 1962.

Apologise for the side on pic,i still can't work out why phone pics seem to come out every way but not the way you want them to
