Not today, but a weekend or two ago.....fitted new Bilsteins front and rear and steering damper. Removed rear seat and fitted the extra fuel tank for upcoming Edjits Tour. Fitted the cover to the new awning and refitted to roof racks. Mounted second spare on rhino rack bracket to roof rack.

Less than two weeks to departure

Well, I pulled the plastic (??) mudguards from inside the left (??) front wheel well so I could remove the snorkel. With the snorkel off I then fitted a couple of thread inserts (Rivnuts) into the A pillar to replace the flogged out plastic jobbies in there. I then repainted (??) the A pillar, as it looked pretty shoddy since I repainted the roof some time ago but didn't do the A pillar at the time due to the snorkel being there. With the snorkel back on I then cut and polished (??) the whole truck. This story doesn't sound right does it?? This all happened on my Nissan Patrol ute. It relates directly to the projects I have lined up for my D90 though, because as soon as the Patrol sells I'll have some spondoolies to spend on my Landy's (roof rack, roof tent, tow bar, bull bar, roof console, ExBox, twin sill tanks, window tint, etc). So, in a slightly removed kind of way, I see it as a weekend spent working on my Landy.
Whoo Hoo! It worked! The Patrol has a buyer coming to collect on Sunday so I can order lots of bits for the D90. Now, where did I put that Mulgo catalogue??

Swapped out a universal, ran the grease gun over the others, rotated tyres, spare onto roofrack, fitted worklight, and rear ladder.

Shrt story: - Sent the Master Mechanic to check the top A-frame balljoint on the Classic. - Bangs & thumps from rear going over small bumps..

"Yep, lots of movement when you bounce it, Dad"... (subtle hint here...)

Just on spec, had a look myself, -reversed the lower rear damper rubbers and tightened the nut properly.

    Should have defined "movement"...

Waved goodbye to my Nissan Patrol ute heading off to it's new home on a farm further south to earn it's retirement.

Then I wired up the trailer wiring socket for the new D90 and spent a couple of hours going through my catalogues and making up my shopping list for the bits and pieces to purchase and fit.

For the S2a I bought and fitted a new battery, as I figured I had better return the battery I "borrowed" from the Patrol before the new owner picked it up. DeeDee's battery packed it in a while ago and so I temporarily took the second battery out of the Patrol. I kinda hoped the Patrol might fire some more life in the ex-DeeDee battery but no go, so a new one it was!

Yesterday I removed the alternator on the Series 3 due to it having an intermitent fault. Fitted new bearings and brushes, cleaned up the slip rings, put it back together and reinstalled it..all good!
I get almost as much pleasure working on the old girl as I do driving her!
It's a bit like four play, before you drive it, as only a Series Land Rover enthusiast would understand!

    Cheers, Mick.

removed the tools from the bonnet, removed the roof rack , removed camping gear from the rear draws .. just to see what the difference is between tanks in KM range if any.Must be around 100kilo lighter now
pulled the dash apart trying to locate a rattle ... found it the plastic dash mounts are all cracked thru. ... need a new binicle and bits
    washed it
    polished it
    tightened up all bushes
put new Kaymar Hilift jack mount onto rear wheel
re sealed the rear door window properly

Now to source new dash parts , and one more WOLF rim ....
