Wired up my IPF 900 HID's, fitted a new GME3100 compact 80channel UHF, wanted to keep my old tx4000 the long range is still so good on it i can't let it go just yet. Removed my winch rope and cleaned it after having to winch my wifes jeep out twice last night after i told her she had no hope getting through some mud holes (women just dont listen when they think their jeep is better than your Disco), Thought about tuning it (does that count?)

I spent Saturday stuffing around trying to get the CDL to disengage every time I switched the D2 off so I didn't loose TC. Yesterday I bit the bullet and cut the blue/black wire at the SLABS ECU. I've fitted insulated crimp terminals to the wire ends to allow the wire to be reconnected or a switch installed if required.

    of course it runs

    Hi All

Lifted Fred's 300TDi engine up onto the hospital bed, hooked up battery to starter motor and fuel cutoff solenoid.
Did some plumbing to keep the water and oil inside.
Using a heavy chain and twitch held the Fred engine down.
Then drip fed some diesel into the injector pump.
Applied a yellow handled screwdriver to the starter motor.
Then Fred engine ran as if it never stopped!

Fitted a hydraulic step off a 7 seater onto my 5 seater D2. Makes life a whole lot easier now to get up to the roof rack.

Will now start to fit a 2nd hand, good condition headlight washer 'kit' as my 02 Disco never came with 1 and I reckon they are a good idea!

Installing the new CDL is next - she'll be a 'complete' Discovery then!

    mixed feelings

Dropped into the Hobart Land Rover agency today and had a look at the very impressive Land Rover Road Show.

My special attention was given to the D4 and the Freelander for the comfort issues. Loyalty then tugged at the sentimental side whilst viewing the 130 dual cab or the possibility of the 90 Hardtop's excitement.
Awe struck at the Range Rovers, left me wondering at which point in my life I didn't make my first million, so I could buy them all.

Turning back after drooling all over that agents forecourt, to our ever so reliable Series 1 Discovery, which now shows 510,00 Klms on its speedo. I am left wondering if any of those new vehicles will ever get to the same level of usage as reliably as our " Daisy ".

    Cheers Arthur

I spent most of Monday trying to disconnect the auto oil cooler pipe from the cooler, even got a mobile landy mechanic to drop in and have a go but he was also unsuccessful.
Tuesday I bought a Dremel and cut the union off and was then able to replace the pipe. I'm not a great fan of those click on hose type fittings.
Here's the old union showing the six cuts necessary for removal and the troublesome spring steel clip which stayed on the pipe even when the union was cut and removed

Today I replaced the broken handbrake cable on the Defender and greased the unis while I was at it.

Took the air filter apart. Found zero oil in the bowl. Cleaned the filters - upper section not so well as I didn't have enough petrol to hand, but they're both pretty clean anyway. Left them to dry overnight as mine is a diesel.
