Thread: What did you do on your Landy today?

Great thread Pplz many hours reading to do here.

Today my new tyres turned up 2 x NEXEN 265/60R18 Roadian HP's (Those Playing @ Home) luckily i have a MotorServe next door so was able to fit them up and balance them myself. Strange thing was both wheels needed no weights which means the Koreans (Think thats where NEXEN are made) must know how to make a tyre.

    Cheers
    Rhys

The holes are slotted to make up for manufacturing tolerances in Land Rovers, but the ARB bar has bigger bolts than the standard bumper, so I needed to biggen up the holes. This would have been simple, but I hadn't used my milling machine for a while, so had to move a lot of stuff to get to it. I enlarged the slots on the side brackets then fitted the main plate to find it fouled the bull bar. I thought of making spacers and buying longer bolts, then I thought, I used the mill for the side plates, I can use it on the main piece, so milled some slots to clear the bull bar and all was good.

Great report! Now the question that has to be asked ... did you feed back to Mulgo exactly what you did to make it compatible with the ARB bar so he can modify his manufacture and make the kit a straight forward bolt on affair for people like me without a milling machine lying around under "a lot of stuff" in the shed??? I imagine filing the holes to slotted might be beyond even my patience.

New water pump and belts, the last one lasted 4 months for some reason and the bearings went. New weather shields fitted.
So tomorrow I will be fitting the new tie rod ends. First timer so see how we go.

Not yet, but I will see him in a few weeks when my sill protectors arrive. They are not his products, but Bearmach. I could have used a file or an angle grinder, but I hadn't used the mill for a while and I like the look of machined surfaces rather than what I can do with a grinder. Having said that, you don't see it unless you climb under.

Well, last night both my high beams went dark on me so that will be today's ''What did you do on your Landy today?'' agenda. Suspect fuse.

Good old Lucas, at it again.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
