    Defender A/C Mods

    Hi all,

Looking at "updating" my defenders A/C system, to that of a series 1 Disco. First step will be to relocate the fuse box. Thinking to put this under the drivers seat. Next step will be to put in the Disco A/C / Heater matrix in the place of the fuse box. Has anyone else attempted this, and can anyone see any problems with this mod???

    big job

    Not enough Room!
I was thinking of the same and realisd the disco evaporator would not fit. I ended up getting a later defender (puma) dash which is not a straight swap either. Good luck.

Oh, forgot to mention, I'm fitting an auto to it as well, so the gear lever will be relocated as well.....

i would simply go to a wreckers get a Toyota Tarago AC set up bolt it in under the rear seat plumb thru the hoses from the compressor under the bonnet disconnect the orig knee conditioning and remove it , fit the Toyota temp control to the centre consul and away you go
In the process of mine being done at the moment .... I have all the hardware and fittings just waiting for a mate to gas it all up

I hear ya, love the Puma, just can't afford one. So trying to make honey out of horse manure. Don't like the way the defender heater and A/C are not connected. Makes it hard in NQ. I have actually had fog in the cab of my 110. This is why I'm trying to find a better way........
