Thread: Diff Gearing

    Hi everyone.
Rather than start a new topic I thought I should post this here.

I have just fit the 4:11 ashcroft CWP's to my RRC. They are disturbingly noisy at around 70 to 80 kmh. Had a quick search around the web and a few have made the same comment due to the lower tooth count etc.

I pulled the rear and had another crack at setting it up and has made no difference at all. So far I have only travelled around 2500 Ks with it like this and I cant imagine they will last too long with the vehicle being used as a mile muncher.

Not sure what else to do aside getting the gears lapped? Be an expensive job.

Road Speed = RPM x 60 / overall gear ratio x tyre revs. per kilometre.

I had Ashcroft 4.11:1 gears in my disco for quite a few years and never noticed any noise at all, and had muddies most, but not all of the time.
