2.25 engine rear oil seal replacement
I am in the process of fitting a new rear crankshaft oil seal to a 3 bearing 2.25 Petrol engine. Does the seal get compressed to about half its original width by the seal retainer plates? The Haynes manual isn't very informative and I think the previous oil seal was fitted incorrectly.
Can anyone give me a bit advice on the correct method of installing the rear oil seal?

My S2 manual lists 32 steps to replacing the seal correctly and it appears that there must be at 32 ways to install it incorrectly as well!
Unfortunately they are far too complicated to list here and I am not sure how to post a scanned page. If you PM me I could send a scan to you or alternatively buy the Rover manual,
Cheers Charlie
