    hazards not shutting off

    Hi Guys
I hit a pothole today and my hazards came on I tried to find the inertia switch and could not see it my car is a 98 diesel disco
after talking to a friend he said try the hazard flasher unit and disconnect the wires to see if the indicators still worked
I traced the ticking and it came from a green box under the glove box (aprox 150mm x 100mm x 40mm) I unplugged the wires and the flashing stopped but the car would not start
if I plug them back in the car will start and the hazards start again
The box has a landrover sticker with lucas SRKA Receiver on it
does anyone have a clue on what this is and could it be the problem
I also noticed that there was a red wire in one of the plugs that was not connected to anything

    I would appreciate any help
    Thank you

    Scott

You've triggered the inertia switch but you should have been able to just turn the ignition fully off then back on again. I'm fairly sure the box you refer to is the Lucas 10AS alarm unit. It is possible it could be faulty. The red wire will be the antenna for the key fob signal.

I used to have this happen a lot on my old Tdi Disco and it always reset with the ignition.

    Thank you DMdigital

I have shut the ignition down and removed the key and then restarted the car again the flashing remained steady
I disconnected the battery to stop it flashing tonight
but I will try again in the morning

    cheers

Try pushing the inertia switch. It is located on the firewall behind the washer bottle.

Hi guys resetting the inertia switch was harder than expected
I did as suggested and looked all over the fire wall and even pulled out the washer bottle with no results so I then tried the ignition method and after the third shutdown the flashing stopped There was an added benefit of pulling the hazard wiring and flasher box apart and cleaning all the contacts, the doors now open first time for the first time
Thanks very much to those that answered

    cheers
