Carter carby (US made) on Holden engine?

I have never heard of this brand/manufacturer. Does anyone know anything about it? Fitted to a red 6 on a standard holden manifold, it is a dual throat carby but lower and smaller than a stromberg. I've heard of stromberg, weber or holley but never carter and wasn't aware they fitted them to holden motors. Any insight?

Carter 2 barrel carbies were commonly fitted to Valiants in Australia, both 6 and V8. They share the same bolt /top pattern as the WW2 stromberg twin barrell that was fitted to a few Holden 6 (186S) engines and a lot of 253 engines from the 60's to about 1980. Normally you replaced the carter with a stromberg, not the other way around. I suspect someone scored a 186S manifold and fitted the Carter because that was what he had lying around.

They didn't, they were fitted to Fords, most commonly the Carter Thermoquad 4bbl fitted to302 & 351C engines prior to EFI.
The 2bbl is most likely off a Falcon XD -XF.

XD-XE1 ran a single barrel Stromberg, XE2-XF ran a Weber 2 barrel progressive.

    bendex-stromberg was fitted to 186 and 253 and P76.
in the parts books torana also listed with twin barrel on the small 161/173 engines.ive not seen any but a 161 revs crazy with a ww stromberg.
when shortages occured carters 2 barrel are fitted to 253.
normally HQ/HJ age about the same time as P76.you dont find carter on holdens after P76 with ADR27 or evaporative emisions.they dont have sealed float bowls.
LX torana dont list carter carby.

the carters on chryslers are not the same type but i guessing they got these as hard to get small numbers of carby from regular suppliers.
    my mate had a 360 2 barrel with a tall 280CFM carter.

bendex became part of kirby in the 80's and Kmart sold carby parts and assemblies.didnt last long.

carters were mainly found on Chrysler products,
XD had single throat stromberg (mine had a new XE type weber and it went like a cut cat!!)
    XE-XF all 2 stage webers
P76 4.4 had the 2 barrel stromberg similar to the 186S
