RRC Disco 1 engine mounts after Cape york

Photo is a set of Britpart engine mounts after Cape York. They were new just before the trip.
Gary from CLR replaced them with LR branded mounts, so thanks Gary.

The moral is that in this case OEM is best.

If Gary had not replaced them I would have tried Jaguar XJ6 mounts, but I guess you have to consider flow on effects like would you crack the chassis?

As usual you get what you pay for. People are always trying to get the cheapest they can, when the cheaper and inferior product fails, they complain. So why do vendors sell these inferior products? because there is a consumer demand for them and people are willing to buy them.
    go figure

I changed out a few aftermarket mounts on my Disco1 and then bit the bullet and put in some QT mounts. A little more vibration at idle is all I noticed at the time I fitted the QT mounts but I know they will never let go.

I could probably just have gotten OEM mounts but thought I'd go with bomb proof ones and forget about the issue altogether.

I have them on the transfer case in my lr, good units, especially after being with people have to ratchet strap the engine gearbox assembly in after breaking 3 mounts

    Yep been there.

I just used OEM on the transfer as I figure if you can't over extend the engine mounts then quality rubber transfer mounts should survive the drive. Especially with a stock 3.9 V8 (which I guess is why you don't use them on the engine since you don't have one of those).

Also don't forget there is a spare engine mount on the steering damper doohickey. I've had to pilfer that before.

Mackay Rubber Products make these as well, they make a heap of OEM stuff from mounts to hoses to belts and even the rubber doughnut of the tailshafts. Never had an issue, available at all Repcos and usually half price or better. For instance, those are virtually same as Series rover and D1 (and now my D2) $9.95 at Repco.
