I have also been told 20-50 engine oil for my box, I do realise that it is not gearbox oil that goes in cause of the pump inside the box.

    Which oil is it pls
Catsrol VMX-80 GL-4, don't use GL-5 oils in your box there are brass parts that are not compatible with GL-5 oils, Regards Frank.

    LT95 uses 20w50, 80/90 is too thick.

    Hi LoanRangie,

Apparently the SAE grades for engine and gear oils are quite different. For example SAE50 engine oil is equivalent to SAE90 gear oil and 10W30 engine oil is equivalent to 75W80 gear oil rating. Please see these links: ROAD RANGER 50 | Oilman and OCOMA MTT | Oilman.

PS: No connection to Oilman but I have purchased their MultitractorTrans oil for some of my ancient machinery.

PPS: But if good ol' GTX 20W50 does the job why go elsewhere...
