The LT95 gearbox and transfer case uses engine oil - as low as 10w up to 50W - whatever I am getting for the engine at the time goes in the gearbox.

I have just replaced the CDL in my LT95 which is fitted in my stage 1
I just went to local car shop for bits and was told 4 stroke mower oil 10w-30
was the recommended in the lubrimax book behind counter.
I have also been told 20-50 engine oil for my box, I do realise that it is not gearbox oil that goes in cause of the pump inside the box.
Which oil is it pls

the rep in shop says 20w-50 engine oil too thick and i wont be able to change gear he is recommending the same as what i use in my 4 stroke mower 10w-30.
the gearbox oil equivalent to 10w-30 4 stroke oil is 75w-90 anyone know anything bout this pls post I never thought the add was true but Oils aint Oils
Hi omnibus,
Have a look through "The Good Oil" section, perhaps starting with this thread. I've had a quick look myself and I can't find anything specific to the LT95, but I'm sure it will be there.
James.
20W 50 is fine and is recommended by LR. Anything thicker when hot is not fine in my experience as I once tried Penrite 20-60 and could not change gear when hot.

Use 10W - 40 or 20w-50 (sorry for the confusion - ie no longer than 10 at the bottom end and 50 at the top end). Then manual says to use engine oil - some posters will come along with alternative suggestions that work as well but the specification is engine oil.
With the LT95 is it easy - engine oil for the engine, gearbox and tfr case (and in my case for the O/D as well) - you cannot get simpler than that.
The gear change is fine and you only need to carry one grade of oil for the lot.
Do not use gear box oil - apparently there are issues with it causing damage to bushes or something.

you guys are awesome I am going to go happy medium with 15w -40 as i am in qld where it is hot anyway
ty all for reply video and photos coming and a bit of a speal on how it all went in for the next poor person that has to do this job
there was supposed to be a page from manual that has the recommended oils for the vehicle but didnt work
Always 20-50 in my experience I use castrol GTX 2 and its the best I have found so far.
If you go too thin it will leak like a sieve
Huh?you guys are awesome I am going to go happy medium with 15w -40 as i am in qld where it is hot anyway
You are more needful of thicker oil in the hot climes by golly.
That would be the 20W-50 not the very very BY JINGO thinner 15W-40.

OIL for lt 95 my experience as being a ex lubrication guy 20 w 50 is OK same oil i put in my tea 20 Ferguson tractor even runs the hydraulics no real problems switched over to Fuchs oil 20 40 in my tractor made a big difference in gear changing so next time i will try this in the lt95 ,don't ever used gear differential oil it cant get through the oil pump and eats white metal brass plus other metals 100 percent no good just plain old cheap engine oil seams to work fine .Rx super for engine, is ok for g/box but a little bit to much detergent .
CHANGE ENGINE OIL CHANGE G BOX OIL.
