    TD5 CHIP power +12v source

    Hi All,

Can't get an install instruction sheet for a second hand DP-37 ( for a discovery TD5 auto ), but ....'How hard can it be ? '

( Asking for any assistance generaly results in a offer to provide an expen$ive $ervice )

The plugs, male and female, go between the injector loom plug under front of rocker cover. (and what is it with the oil....... )
The black wire will be earched (-12V).

    But the Red wire ?

To the +12v of the battery (through a fuse) for constant power ?
Or to the ACC on the ingition system, so it is powered up only when the engine is running ?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

I had a quick look at the DP website, didnt find exact instructions for it.
Thet do mention its impossible to damage anything if you wire it incorrectly.
The unit will only need power whilst the engine is running.I would five a possitive feed that is ignition on live for the red, black to earth.
Have a look at their FAQ area,I didnt read all them.

    Thanks

    Thanks Andy.

The web site is not very helpful, so I rang the manufacturer (Australian branch) and pleaded my way down to a technical guy. I knew it would be 'difficult'. A stated fact was "we will not give out install instructions / wiring diagrams to people who purchase them 2nd hand."
Altruistically, I think they want them back to check them out and repackage them. ( $200 remap + $200 wiring loom). Perhaps people buy them and attempt to make them work on different engines and complain when they don't perform correctly.
The cynic in me thinks perhaps it's a financial exercise.

Anywho, the bloke said it didn't matter too much, as you mentioned, it's hard to kill them. He also said the chip will turn itself off after a minute or so when the engine is turned off. Clever.

So I just connected it to the battery side of my Redark.

Works well. Different vehicle. Let's hope I can increase the economy instead of getting everywhere quicker.

    Tony
