I replaced my engine (4.0 to 4.6) at 210K and after this also had the auto rebuilt with a hand made torque converter to suit, kevlar/carbon clutches and all the other bells. Didn't go to a 24 pump section but it is a higher rated pump from a later ZF box (It was built by a guy who specialises in ford ZF's for drag apps).

It's been brilliant. I think like anything auto related, it's the cheapest device suited to the application it has beed fitted to and tested in. Like series axles (land rovers don't break them drivers do), realise and know it's limits and what you need to do to it to make it do what you want it to do and you'll be fine. Keep it clean, from new I changed out the oil at 5000k's and them 10000k's and then will be at 20000k intervals. Overkill by the builders specs and even more so by the oil manufacturers requirements.

If possible get a small sample of oil. Put the front up on stands/ramps and open the fill plug on the front of the pan, either some will come out or suck some out. If it' has a silvery metalic shimmer to it be wary. Mine was from about 5000k's after I got it (had "fresh" oil in it). Had a high metal content in it when tested.
