			D1 Indicator/Light switch

I was wondering if anyone could help with this.
Lately my light switch on the indicator stalk is playing up. When you switch the lights on the dash lights don't turn on. If I play with the switch it then comes on. Now when I use the indicators the dash lights go on and off every time I touch the stalk switch!
My questions is- Can you pull apart the stalk and fix the contacts or do I need a new stalk switch? Car is 13yr old and done 330K one owner.

Cheers
Luke

I once started to pull the switch apart when I had problems with the parking lights not working - but it seemed that all I was going to do was destroy it in the process. It's part STC4017, and they are roughly $100. ( I used some WD40 sprayed into the gaps to fix my problem - yours might be a bit of a different fix). Otherwise bring your steering wheel puller and visit a wreckers - of the various items that wear out on Disco 1, the light switch does not get mentioned much at all.

					Thanks Langy.
Did the WD40 about 3 months ago and was fine for a while. It might have dried out by now. Thanks for the part number. I have the double problem of Drivers Airbag to contend with.

Cheers

I used to have SRS (Airbags). With the steering wheel, disconnect battery and use a stubby screwdriver to undo the screws on the reverse of the steering wheel. Just make sure everything is connected before re-connecting the battery or ign on so the unit doesn't log a fault.
