    MAF Cleaning

I am looking at cleaning the Mass Airflow Sensor in my RRC. Thanks to advice from Bee Utey on the stepper motor, thats already taken care off and its running greast on petrol, but on LPG it still hesitates and stalls as soon as you've driven it for approx 10 mins. So in relation to cleaning the MAS and never having done it before - is it hard to do? Has anyone used CRC Mass Airflow cleaner in a spary can with good or bad results? Is cleaning it a good idea or am I better off replacing it anyway? All advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Your MAF doesn't connect to the gas system in any way. If the engine stalls on gas you need to address the gas tuning. Run the car until it misbehaves, pull over, lift the bonnet, feel if the gas converter is chilling. If it's cold, fix the water supply to the converter.

If it's hot you may just have to adjust the idle mixture for best running.

    It's very easy.
    Take the MAF off.
Remove the air straightener, ie the mesh.
Look from the air filter end and you will see a small hole on the LH side.
Spray liberally with electronic contact cleaner, and turn it so that any excess can drain out.
You should see 2 wires in the hole shining brightly .
    Replace the MAF.

I use it all the time on D2 TD5. Good product when used right Don't get to closed or touch the wires. Always a good idea to clean them. Some dealers say to do it every time you change the oil and filters.
