Thread: 300TDI Cambelt pulleys.

Finally got around to changing the waterpump[noisy from new] at the same time viscous fan bearing sounded a bit rattly,this was a replacement water pump bearing fitted in an exchange cover about 70k ago.Thought I would get away with just renewing the cover and the cam belt as the pulleys were renewed at the last belt change.But they actually sounded quite loose.I see there is a choice of pulleys available,modified. with or without lip.There was only a small amount of belt fibre on the cover and a minimum amount of oil from the crank seal.Renewed the seal but which pulley to use.Any disadvantage of going for the pulleys with lip, or just stick with the modified no lip pulleys.

The updated pulley is the one piece with lip to help prevent belt walk .
