    AU fans into Discovery

Well, I've been thinking about it for years and tmrw I take the plunge. The clutch fan is going and a set of thermos from an AU are going in the Disco. I'm using a Davies Craig controller and will put a switch in the cab so I can turn them off when crossing/submerging the old girl in water.

I had this setup in a RRC, worked a charm, fans fit perfectly with a tiny bit trimming

This was done by Chris (sprover) a while back. The main thing to get it to work properly is to mould the cowling around the fans so they draw the air through properly. The link below might help.

Thanks for the link. I'm using the whole setup, cowling and all, it slides in almost perfectly. The only thing that bothers me is it just touches the bottom radiator hose, i could cable tie the hose back a touch or maybe fit some sponge between the hose and the cowling I guess.

Trim the housing and just make sure the fan on that side doesn't contact the hose.

I'm using a stock 3.5 RRC rad with EL thermos with a 350 and had to trim the shroud a fair bit around there. Still a great set up after 80 thou.

There are plenty of threads on this topic, some with pics.

You should have a search to save some possible grief.

If you pm me your email I can send some pics..........

It is important IMHO that the weight of the fans and shroud is not carried by the rad, and that the rad is correctly supported weight wise by the grommits on the bottom, not the bolts on either side. Pics will show how I did it.

    cheers, DL
