    crank damper missing part?

After finding out my crank damper on the 200tdi may have worn rubber and caused the outer ring to move (see-> http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-...nk-damper.html) .... I looked for a replacement.

Replacement both genuine and britpart have a zinc plated metal ring/spacer on the back that mine does not.

Does anyone know if this a revision/improvement to earlier design or is my damper missing a valuable part?

That is the mudshield for the front seal, should be there.
