Have spent a lot of phone time and internet time with various AULRO members, and let me first say thank you very much to the AULRO community for pulling together and helping me out, especially considering the time of year that it is. I've had offers of help from the four corners of the country - too many names to list here, but you know who you are.

Thanks to Blknight.aus who has just spent his Christmas eve morning on the phone to suppliers, there's a head gasket heading in my direction pretty much as we speak, and should be here in the next few days.

Best wishes this holiday season to everyone, and I'll post updates once the gasket set gets in.

    sky high

Thanks Dave for getting those parts on the way, whilst I had the head gasket that Mike needed, I also had my orders for the day and as I explained to Mike I just couldn't get to the courier's office in time to get it there today.

When you have time to wait, you can generally can buy two top overhaul kits from the UK for the price of one off the shelf here in Australia.
Beware though, the difference in freight cost from the UK is well worth asking about before you buy anything, the cost of air express is -- well ---- sky high.

But I do use the local blokes and try and balance my purchases around the lot of them, as you never know when you really need a hand to get through a spot of bother.

Talking about sky high, HEY KIDS! What was that I saw going behind that cloud?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year every one .

Hope you had a reasonable Christmas Mike, despite being up to your armpits in broken landy.
    Are you mobile again yet?

Considering the situation a week ago, we've had a pretty amazing christmas. What started out as borrowing a torque wrench from strangy turned into a full on invite for Christmas dinner with him and his family, plus daily invites to use the pool/shower/eat/drink/wash clothes etc. The only effort we've had to *endure* is trying to refuse his and his wife's hospitality.

Still in Alice, Not mobile yet, as the head is sitting in strangy's shed, was expecting a gasket kit yesterday but hoping it'll arrive in today - again, courtesy of another forummer, Blkinght.aus. As the risk of sounding nostalgic or whatever, situations like that make me glad I headed off travelling six years ago.

Good to hear. Glad you weren't stuck by yourself in the middle of paddock with no mates and warm beer

As they say - its all about the journey, not the destination ....

... You will get plenty of 'journey' in your Land Rover... and the 'Destination' will assuredly be well into the future....

    hi

Mike i only just came across your thread, if i had known you needed a head gasket i could have picked one up from MR automotive in Brisbane and driven over to Alice with it for you, would have only taken 3 days and a good excuse to go for a road trip.
