List of options for Mike that has been tried and to try.
Most of those suggestions so far involve getting the Defender to it's new engine.
Tried repairing the existing engine which led to more problems.
The size of the loaded Defender is stopping it from being transported by road and rail.
So a bit of lateral thinking is now required:
1. Bring the Isuzu engine to the Defender and fit it in a workshop in Alice Springs.
2. If bringing the Isuzu engine to the Defender is out of the question, due to not having the resources to work on it, take a step back from that and consider if a complete loan 300 TDi engine, radiator hoses and radiator could be sent instead, fitted, then driven back to Melbourne then removed to fit the Isuzu.
3. Strip the Defender of any accessories and luggage , rail those removed goods to Melbourne and sell the Defender as is. Buy another Defender to rebuild in Melbourne.
4. Ask again about shipping as a back load by a car transporter, the bare Defender after all the removable goods have been rail freighted.
Add your suggestions and any pro's or con's here, put your thinking caps on folks.
