Here's mine with a new timing belt fitted onto old style timing gears.....................sigh. :( 12 months old.:eek:

I wonder if incorrect tension is the cause of the belt jumping on the tensioner which then acts as a pizza cutter. :confused:

I'd guess so.
Word on the street is that the revised belt tension was the real fix for the timing belts lunching themselves.
It was the final 'update' too.
I know of belts that have done 120,000km and look like new still :angel:
Along with the modification kits, I have set my belts slightly above 10 NM and drilled a 19 mm inspection port at the top of the timing case cover.Quote:

So it looks like to me also, that the running off of the belts was due to the belts stretching unevenly with excessive tension.

None of them look too good! Unless you have cleaned the crowns before the photo they all look to have been running with water getting in.
A mechanic should be able to tell you if there is much that can be done but I'd be taking the pistons out and getting some lube wiped onto the cylinders.
Ouch! I was lucky when mine overheated the head went bendy. got out of t cheap and easy to fix.
Has anyone told you not to pour cemet and crushed rock into the intake!

It's off to the engine reconditioners with that one, mostly to find out if that block can be salvaged.

Mmmm... not a good look! Happy to say a new head etc is on it's way from Turner's to my place at the moment.:D
That's bad in the bores, the crankshaft should be still good, but watch out for the camshaft bearing alignment. To get that engine block fully reconditioned say $3500 upwards and new head from Turners about $900 with the freight paid and maybe another $500 for other items such as overhaul gasket set, water pump, thermostat, timing belt kit, etc.Quote:

The present radiator should now be rodded, as the muck stirred up in the cooling system by the over heading engine would have made it's way into the tubes in the radiator core, that should cost about $140.
