Yes. I left the oil seal in place between the CV and diff housing. But remove the one between CV and hub.

    What vehicle again BTW?

LSE Rangie. Have rovingtracks axles so this seal no longer fits. So its all getting mixed up.
IIRC this was the same as on my old toy converted diffs.

I've been reading lots of posts on here for ages about oiled wheel bearings and am in two minds about it. I'm about to install an Ashcroft locker, CVs and shafts in the front of the 130 (2008 Puma). A major sticking point for me is lingering memories of oil forever leaking from swivel housing seals in my earlier vehicles. The one-shot grease seemed a logical solution. What have others found with regard to swivel balls leaking when the hubs are oiled rather than greased?

My D1 swivels have been oil lube since I bought it 3 years ago and never had a leak. A few weeks ago I converted the front hubs to oil wheel bearings and no leaks so far.

I've read plenty of comments on the swivel leaks you speak of, but I haven't experienced any. Where does it leak from in that case? Where the swivel bolts together at the bottom?

Depending on the answer to above, this may not be 100% applicable, but I will also say that if you are pulling things apart then always replace cheap items like seals. When I've taken my hubs apart and converted, I've replaced all the seals with new genuine oil seals (not grease seals which maybe have been existing). I've wondered where some cases of oil leaks are people reusing old oil seals or the existing seal which is only a grease seal. On such a new vehicle like a Puma, if you do the job right, I don't see why it would leak.

That's my 2 cents. As always, happy to hear other feedback.
