    Turbo water jacket

The borgwarner EFR turbos have an alloy housing which according to their literature and others in the know really does benefit from the water jacket.

Unfortunately the turbo would be the highest point in my cooling system.. I could put a bleed valve in the line with a bracket to keep it higher than the turbo but would that work well enough? Or am I just causing more problems than im fixing?

It would be a good 4 inches above the bleed nut on the thermostat, I guess it would make filling it with coolant a pain as well...

Leave it disconnected. If it were petrol I'd connect them up.

I opted to leave my TB25 water cooling off, just another couple of hoses to leak IMO...

    Cool, thanks guys.

Do I just have to idle longer on shutdown or is there anything else I should be aware of leaving it off?

I would just leave the upstream EGTs to drop to around 200C before shutting off.

    What he said ^^.

The only times you will need to idle down are from high load to quick stop. 100km/h isn't high load. Climbing skifields is.

Mine is hampered by shifting a truck box....but if I COULD swap cogs quicker it would be very impressive for a housebrick shaped commercial 4x4...
