    shock dust boots

I have some Bilstein 7100 shocks that didn't come with dust boots. I understand that if you were running a prerunner it may not be an issue but for longevity do I need to put some dust boots on them?

    I wouldn't...

7100s don't come with dust boots.

I wouldn't put them on, I did it once with my 5100s and they're a trap for dirt, mud, water, you name it.
Keep them clean with a common pressure washer, I use a clean rag with WD40 or similar to wipe them every now and then (usually if I pulled the wheels to work on the truck), and they'll be fine.

My 7100's have been on the truck for about 10k so far and not even a mark. As Michele said, the boots are a trap for crud. Crap gets into the boots via the small holes but has nowhere to exit.

IMO you're far better with stone shields than dust boots.
