It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

Mate of mine had an ARB locker play up in his patrol. The rear locker was around 4yrs old.
They fixed it for free,no problems at all.

Being an old timer, I bought a long range fuel tank off the two brothers when they were at Ringwood in 1976, & great to see the growth from such humble beginnings. Personally I would have posted up an apology when the matter was fixed.. Cynic aint I But good to see it's "conditional"

Well, since my trip on the weekend I have had the unmistakable stench of gear oil through my car (the compressor is under the back seat) and today I spent 3 hours removing the back seats, brackets and seat belts and cleaning about half a litre of gear oil from the interior of the vehicle. So no apologies from me at this point.
I did'nt read your first post, but it sounds like a blocked diff breather, I was having the same problem (but compressor and valves under the bonnet.)
Cleaned the totally blocked breather about 4+ years ago and haven't had a problem since, I replaced the standard spud with a larger dia. one as well and extended the larger pipe further up to the engine bay, fuel line size, so I always have a bit of spare fuel line if I ever need it, Regards Frank.

Thanks Tank, I'll check the breather but I don't think it's blocked, as that's where all the compressed air comes out when I try to lock the diff.

Thanks for the follow up Wardy.

Without trying to sound too 'salesy' here, we're always happy to stand behind our products and rectify any issues that may occur. Obviously we need to know about the issues in order to have them resolved though, so your first port of call should always be the Manager at your place of purchase (fit).

If you're not happy with their response, then by all means, contact us at HQ (sales@arb.com.au) and we'll follow it up.

POD, I'll shoot you a PM re your locker.

    Cheers, Sam.

G'day Sam, I've just replied to your PM. I'm not the original purchaser of this locker, it was installed for the previous owner of the vehicle.
I've relocated the compressor to outside the cab to avoid another interior mess. Also fitted an older ARB compressor with a bigger reservoir.

The breather did not seem to be blocked at all, I've blown both it and the airlocker line out. I'm pretty keen to see the locker working properly and the oil inside the diff where it's needed.

One thing I'll give ARB is they are a good honest Australian company doing a bloody good job. It's easy to hate the bigger companies that do well, but in this case I don't think that is well placed. Well done on putting an apology out there as most people wouldn't do that

Re: lockers. 95% of all lockers I look at are a fitment issue. Unfortunately there are a lot of people that fit them without having the full required knowledge. Yes its not that hard, but there are a couple of little knacks that stop a lot of these issues. O'ring fitment is a good starting point, as well as leaving a little slack in the line (inside of the diff) etc - all the little things that matter.

As hard as it is to say (because I'm a cheap-arse), sometimes it is worth spending the extra money to get a good product with good back-up fitted by (generally) good mechanics.

I WISH more people would do things like this FIRST. I'm glad all has been resolved but goodness me a ph call to the fitter/ workshop first would prevent a lot of speculation and carry on. I would like to think that if in the event I make a stuff up that people would call me first to get it sorted, which would be my primary objective of course to get the issue dealt with to the satisfaction of all concerned, instead of resorting to mouthing off behind peoples backs.

This isn't directed at you personally Wardy, as it sounds like all is being sorted now but it is just frustrating from an industry perspective to hear this sort of thing going on.

I must have missed the bit where all was resolved to Wardy's satisfaction. His first post says he will let us know.
