The locker should be going in tomorrow.... Transmission guys are taking their time but I've been able to get the compressor in and wiring up done.

    So here's a funny thing.

Dino's failure made me a bit paranoid so I decided to install my Ashcroft ATB today.

Pulled the front centre out and discovered that my carrier centre pin had sheared and was sitting there ready to lunch the entire diff.

Few bits of broken chunks in the bottom of the diff (centre pin, not teeth) and some metallic filings in the oil.

Reckon I better do a bit of cleaning/flushing to do - anyone got any tips?

Lucky you found that when you did.

Just a strong magnet inside a rag and a piece of hooked wire to scratch out any bits stuck in and around the inside of the housing.

What, you mean just before my Simpson crossing? And no, I'm not joking.

I've got the chunks/flakes out, but the oil was pretty 'metalicised'. I'm planning on doing a change (obviously) and then new oil, quick drive and ten another change, but was wondering I'd anyone had tried some sort of solvent flush or similar? Might do more harm than good?

New Ashcroft ATB centre fitted this afternoon. Just need to put some oil in, do a few laps of the block and then dump it for some more fresh stuff.

Gunna' dump the rear oil tomorrow - I'm getting kinda paranoid!

How did the locker go Dino?

Excellent. Found some steep greasy slopes in the Brindabellas and the lockers did their job without any fuss.
