    Rover V8 inlet manifold gasket

After a bit of hit and miss with the search function I have a question for the collective's wisdom.

What is the recommendation with respect to gasket material for the inlet manifold (valley) on the Rover V8? Its a 3.9 Disco for those interested.

I've seen either tin or composite material listed but haven't seen anything in the way of definitive pros & cons for either.

Since the gasket covers the valley as well i'd stick with the tin gasket that has the rubberised seals around the ports.

I am with the Lone Ranger on this - definitely the tin one and use sealant. The "cardboard" gaskets can start to peel inside the engine and the bits can get sucked into the oil system.

Non efi gaskets dont have the recess for the injectors so any efi one should fit if the coolant passages etc didnt change on 4.0/4.6 engines.

Have a look at Rover Parts Plus online. They are based in Victoria, carry the tin gaskets and are reasonably priced.
