No, its only the 2.7 in the later D3s. D4 2.7 ecms are different.

While this thread has raised some interesting points on both sides of the debate it has for some time been basically going around in circles and its starting to get a bit to testy.
There is absolutely no proof that 3 litre D4's are having or have had mechanical failures because of remaps on one side of the arguement and it would seem that if someone with the ability wanted to spend the time to reprogramme a ECU they could disconnect the EGR's if they wanted to on the other side.
So before it goes any further and gets to the point of outright arguement lets just call it quits and move on from here thank you.

This discussion would be better suited to the Technical Chat section so it was decided to move it here.

The two major software players in the tuning industry (EVC and Swiftec) generate and sell map-packs for the most popular vehicles and ECU's.
If you don't have a map-pack the software will auto-find and display maps based on the data structure. As your son knows, there can be hundreds. What it doesn't do though is identify the maps and apply units/scale to the axis and the data.
It is quite easy to find and modify the pedal maps, torque limiters and injection timing maps. But from there it gets really tricky really quickly.
If you do have a map-pack, then everything known is identified, labelled, scaled and units applied.
For example, it's one thing to know there are 10 injection timing maps in your ECU, it's another to find those maps are used for 10 different water temperature ranges.
If you don't have a map-pack, then beyond the basic tuning you are in for either hundreds of hours of inspection work or you need to dis-assemble the code (massive undertaking). Like Offtrack is here for the TD5: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/electronic...g-td5-ecu.html
A little research reveals that VCPowerTeam have s/w to disable EGR on the 3.0's Bosch EDC17_CP11 ecu so a place such as Avon Tuning in the UK who advertise DPF disablement on the same ecu should be able to just disable EGR if requested, albeit with the ecu on the bench. Perhaps its time to look for an Oz agent with the necessary equipment.

I'm currently bashing my head against the door because I've deleted all my emails from 2009/10. In there was a correspondence with a Brisbane tuning outfit that did the 2010 D4 and RRS 3.0 ltr - all I can recall is they worked through Quattro Motors here in Perth (so also specialised in Audi tunes), and were the first company I'd heard of willing to tune the 3.0 ltr Land Rover motors. And they used Swiftec.
They may have the equipment to decode the EGR system.
I shall continue to try and recall their name whilst beating my head against blunt objects ....
Cheers,
Gordon
Has anyone tried contacting the UK tuners and asking if they have a local (to you) agent?
I tried for some stuff, agents were all ~2000km away in Auckland.
The number one tuner in the UK(well that's what they say) is Peter Bell from Bell Autos, he apparently supplies most of the Land Rovers tuners around the world with the tech info to tune all models of LR, now looking at his web site, there is still nothing about an EGR bypass kit for post 2007 TDV6 2.7L or 3.0L, also nothing in regards to a re-map for 2011 on 2.7l TDV6 D4s, and from what I've been told nothing in the future, if there is a way of doing this, my guess would be that the biggest hurdle is convincing the Land Rover tuners to get the info to do it or getting any other tuner to do Land Rovers.
We spoke to Bruce Davis about a power upgrade, (he uses Peter Bells software)he said to us that some D4s work and some don't from 2011 on and he also said if we wanted it done and it didn't work, he wasn't willing to give a refund, basically he didn't seem all that keen to do it.
Bluefin in New Zealand also use Peter Bells software, we also spoke to them with basically the same result.
