I built an off road buggy in the UK, which had large dumper tyres on it. I ran 4.7's I it but they kept disintegrating! Had to go to 3.5's with no backlash to make the axles reliable. They took a flogging then (Ashcroft Shafts). If you want really low speed... Then its time to get the welder out. If you can make a front Salisbury and find a 110 rear, I have a pair of 5.7:1 R&Ps... That'd really slow your Disco down, give you solid axles and a low low ratio.....
