    TD5 2003 ACE Issue

    Hi All,

My Disco TD5 is having ACE amber and red light come on, it depends which corner I turn first as to whether the amber one comes on or the red one comes on, if I drive in straight line I think it wouldn't come on at all. An ideas on where to look for the cause of this issue? Transducer etc?

Have you checked the oil level?

Oil levels are good, and the rear pick up servo for the ACE have been replaced.

Its obviously best if you could get the fault codes read and may become necessary if simple aspects look OK.

Is the accelerometer that's mounted on the chassis below the driver's seat still firmly attached but not covered in mud?

Mine did the same. I ended up getting a second hand valve block.

If you have a nanocom you can activate the valves. One was working for me and the other not.

In the mean time until I got the replacement valve block, i would take off and after a few meters, maybe 20km/h, I would swerve to the direction that caused the yellow ACE light. The yellow ACE light disables the ACE and locks the bars in place. It makes it pretty rigid with the bars locked but it doesnt do any damage. It's terrible off road with the bars locked too.

    Happy Days.

I assume the problem wasn't just one of the coils open circuit because they're available as a spare part - used to be anyway.

Nope. Not the coil. I swaped the coils and the problem remained with the same valve.

I was able to remove the working valve but ever effort failed to remove the second one. I hooked them up to 12v and one made a very positive clicking when power was applied but the other sounded like it was only just moving.

    Happy Days.

How much did the valve block set you back $?

I got it from someone on here who was wrecking there disco. I think it was $120 plus freight which ended up to close to what it would have cost to get one from the UK. UK eBay had a few at the time.

I should have done it earlier because I spent a fair bit ($$) in oil as every time I drained it to attempt to fix it some how, I always put new oil in as I was a bit paranoid about getting dirt in the system.

    Happy Days.
