There is also another temp sensor located on the back of the transmission (driver's side ( our passenger side LH)). Easy to get to and may have been affected if you were in deep water. Try unplugging it and see if your light goes out. I would start there first as the one on the cooler is a bit harder to get at."

that sensor is for the transfer case, not the auto trans. it is parralelled with the auto trans cooler sensor and usually only fitted to v8 models.
