    Fuel From Best 3

I dont know about elswhere but where we live BP supply Woolworths any way. We used to have a performance V8 Commodore and ran it on Premium BP, changed to Premium Woolworths (no difference in power and economy at all). Ran on normal unleaded as a test and found absolute minimal difference. Defender diesel the same.

Caltex and Ampol are the same company and like Woolworth's fuel, I wouldn't put that crap in my lawn mower.
    But each to his own.
I thing the NRMA did a fuel comparison some time back. Might find it in there web site.

PS was the BP tanker a BP company tanker or a BP contractor's tanker?

Hi again, forgot to mention, It's not the octane level that's the problem.
The performance should be the same from one brand of fuel to another. The problem is that the cheapo fuels ( Woolworths, Ampol and Caltex and the likes ) have loads of impurities that over a period of time, rips the guts out of your engine. This is where the third world rating for our fuel comes from, the amount of crap in the fuel and this is also why BP, Shell and Mobil guaranty there fuel to be of a minimum specific quality.
I would also like to hear more about Bio fuels if anyone has more info.

    Caltex

Yep, Woolworths are linked to Caltex over here too, but I think there are only two main fuel distributors up her any way being BP and Caltex/Ampol or Shell. These two supply everyone anyway, BP, Shell, Ampol,Caltex, Gull, Woolworths etc.

Seen commercial biodiesel used in Nissans whereby filters kept clogging and power was reduced.

Took many flushes of tank and lines plus $100 in filters until it finally came good again after about 6 months.

Some residues in diesel tanks and materials of fuel lines etc are not compatible or react.

    Trial at your risk.

    All

I write the occasional article for Overlander magazine, and one of the ones I have in the pipeline is about....biodiesel! It was prompted by a friend who has just got a 130 TD5 and intends to use biodiesel. I thought the subject would be of interest to a wider audience and the editor agrees.

I know very little about biodiesel other than a bit of quick reading to ascertain it would be worth further investigation.

What I'm interested in is stories of people who run 4WDs on biodiesel for extended periods of time, and preferably use them offroad. I'd like to chat/interview/photograph you/the car. I'm Melbourne based but would like information from anyone with the relevant experience and knowledge.

    cheers

    BP

There is only one refinery in WA and that is BP at Kwinnana. So I asume they supply most of the state except for the stuff bought in from O/S anyway. Woolworths here seem to be happy to give a guarantee on their fuel. Arn't Caltex tied up with Mobil who are owned by Exxon, hmmm interesting, more big bangs to come.
