Hi - a quick question.
I am about to install the pistons in my 4.6 but want to verify cylinder numbers as my engine build handbook doesn't seem to outline it.
So when looking from the front of the engine can someone confirm that cylinders 1, 3, 5, 7 are in the right hand bank and cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8 are on the left hand bank.
Thanks
Garry

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
G`day ,
yep that`s right .
Though when talking in general being as we have right hand drive , that side is usually referred to as right .
Thanks JC - thought so but just wanted to be sure.
Between posting and getting a response I have managed to get down to Maccas for a cuppa and a cone and flake - I knew a response would come along pretty quick.
Oh the block casting has a 3 next to cylinder 3 (up near the lifter holes) - is this to indicate cylinder 3 or something else?
Thanks - now out to put the pistons in.
Cheers
Garry

It's even easier than that. They are numbered in order of the conrod position on the crankshaft. Without needing to identify left from right, no.1 cylinder is the one that is offset one big-ends-worth forward from the other bank.
