There are plenty of circumstances in the bush that you can apply 500+HP without panel damage and plenty you could, same goes with 200HP:D
Firestorms are not competion trucks (Even tho they could be used as such), they are IMO the ultimate go anywhere Rovers that can be at home on hardcore trails,outback oz or pulling up to a 5star hotel :cool:if i do panel damage ill fix it..however i do want a driveline that will handle a big challenging rutted out rocky hill and at the same time be engineered and safe at 110kph.

Abuse no..use to its potential...yes :D

Bigger is better,that's why you are going to have 500 plus hp I guess and not 200. So 35 spline is bigger and better than 31 spline. I have run a Detroit for nearly 20 years and the car has been a daily driver and flogged around the bush. Most people rubbish them as hardcore only but once you have driven on one the rest of the lockers are just annoying. They just work set and forget

Can you honestly tell me in what ways do you notice the detroits onroad and have you used in the front, if so what is your experience with them up front? Ps again this car will also be drivable by my wife at 110kph and 50kph

On road they are fine. In car parks you notice nothing at all. Roundabouts nothing at all. Yes they do steer different on the dirt or mud but you change your driving style and all is good. How you use the center diff lock changes how the car steers on the dirt. That's just trial and error. Take it out and basically practice driving it in different ways and adapt how you drive it. Use them in the rear only

Thanks for that..We will be running an Ashcroft or Quife ATB centre diff so that might get a little difficult

You still lock the center diff manually. It may even be better with a Quife in the center and Detroit in the rear

Interesting will keep that in mind,good to hear some positive things about the detroit auto, i always knew they where super reliable, just a shame u cant run em up front, which means Ashcroft/ARB upfront, and if you are doin that then you already have the compressor and wiring and switches so may as well run rear..apparently reliability of the ARB is all in the quality of the setup and maintainance.
I currently run Maxi rear Ashcroft front.

Spoken to LRA today, they are investigating 35 Spline rear options for the Rover9 from suppliers..will keep you posted.

Lucky 8 have Ashcroft stuff, and maybe another supplier.

Interesting on the engines, The LSA is based from the LS9, which stems from the 7. They share the same dry sump system and pan. The LS9 has a newer designed gerotor design for the scavenge pumps over the 7. You'd have to be able to make the pump for without too much issue and just make a new pan.

As said, the dry sump pan is just a collector for the oil. Hence dry sump. The oil reservoir is a separate tank to aid deaerating the oil and cooling.
