Well if you'd trust a $12 remote control to haul your pride and joy up a hill and then stop before it winches the tree onto itself, then go for it

I bought a similar one. It works fine. Not long had it installed so can't comment on longevity. But being electronic I'm not really too concerned as it's unlikely to go wrong - if it does it would be easy to operate the winch with a few pieces of wire as a work a round. Or just wire it 'underneath' the existing controller so you can use both.

Can't really see the difference between what you link to and one I saw (TJM) in a shop for $90 recently.

I've got a similar looking wireless setup that I bought about 3 years ago. Mine came from the UK and from memory was about $40 delivered.

I do find they are a bit laggy - and the winch takes a second or so to stop after you release the button. Works OK apart from that, but I also installed an in-cab switch and have only used that for real winching.
Batteries go flat, and you can drop remotes in puddles. Don't think I'd want to just rely on one of these wireless ones with no other way to operate my winch.

ive got the $12 remote and keyfob and its brilliant, works from 40+ meters away so no more being tied to the car, great at full wire with extension when working on your own[ie winching trees etc]

I bought a similar remote off ebay still working after 5 years, that one has two remotes so you already have a back up but would still be an idea to hard wire a switch in dash.

I put my switch in centre console between window switches plus led lights red for winching in and green for winching out.
disco seriesII mods so far:-bullbar,hyd winch,
detriot locker, lsd front,C.D.L kit, chipped and bigger intercooler,2" lift, rock sliders, lsd in transfer case, modified auto trans.

Thanks for the link, I just bought one. I've got a winch at each end of the 130, wonder how I could set this up to run either winch.

Assuming you've got 2 solenoid packs, just buy 2 of the remote setups. I'm sure the remotes are keyed to the receiver box somehow.

Would they be? Wouldn't want to be burning out my rear winch whilst using the front, or vice-versa. There doesn't appear to be any frequency selector or such, thought they might just be all the same.

Guess its possible, but if they are all the same then there's going to be some interesting going's on if we all get together and someone needs to winch
Another good reason to have an "arm" switch on your winches - just turn on the one you want to control.
