Thanks for the replies guys i was thinking along the same lines of solo recovery, a hi mount has like 30m+ of cable and the easy of use with a remote would be a bonus. I would use a hard wired dash button in the car personal, maybe i should have been more precise in my question.

My warn came with a wireless remote. It is handy, but "winds on" for 1 or 2 seconds after you take your finger off the button... so long as you are aware of it when rigging up or at the end of respooling its not really an issue.
    POD,
Even if theres no dang fangled frequency selection stuff... what about running switches into the cab to isolate each winch? That way you can make sure there's no accidental activation - either by you or anyone else

I have four of them and they are all keyed to their own box.
I checked and there is no cross operation.
I put a waterproof blade fuse in the line and when not using I take the fuse out , just in case.

Be aware like all RF devices they can be subjected to interference and can activate without warning.

Also, the frequency spectrum they use is limited and you can find someone nearby has the same frequency. Can make for some risk!

Just be aware of that and plan accordingly

Personally I have always fitted a cut off switch into a Winch system just to stop any problems like that. Seen water from wading set of a winch. So nice to know that when not used the winch has no power to it.

Yes, and the other case where it can happen is in places like the High country.

2 groups on separate spur tracks.
The rf during a recovery could interfere with the winching from the other group.

Last thing I would like is my winch taking off in an unplanned manner...
