It's not unusual if the tank has just been filled or overfilled, but if it is part way through the tank it might be a blocked breather.
where is that vapour smell comming from?
it only does it now and then, and seems to be from the rear near the filler
any ideas? cant see a leak :?:

it tends to happen when there is less fuel in the tank, more vapor pressure i suppose, do the caps play up?
Could be the cap. I dunno if a new one would solve the problem, could be a blocked breather as pheonix suggests.
Suppose if you can get at the breathers or the cap use some soap diluted in water in a spray bottle and apply liberally to suspect areas. Bubbles will show fairly rapid leaks so maybe if it smells the most after sitting in the sun for a few hours, that would be the time to do some looking. Remember to use a safe light (battery torch or sealed fluro) if under the vehicle as vapor will ignite very easily.
