No :!: no :!: no Vlad :!: Supply and demand. Same way fuel prices work, no such thing as collusion.... supply and demand. That's why fuel cost goes up thursdays and falls mondays..... fuel companies show more demand for fuel on weekends than during the week.

Same thing for injectors..... more demand at the moment, so when most of these engines have died out, demand drops and the remaining engines will have cheap spare parts.

I was recently quoted $250 ea installed by a mob in Perth, but then checked the UK internet sites and worked out I could get them delivered here for just over $500.

Incidently, when I asked if I could keep the old ones as spares, I was told I would have to store them in a liquid otherwise they will corrode ? Seems odd to me ?

I never mentioned collusion, but you may be on to something there

Increased fuel demand on weekends does not force prices up. Supply price is the same, It's simply profiteering by oil companies.

And when most Tdi engines have died there'll be cheap injectors available :?:
More like no injectors :!:

Taz: I assume you mean $500 for the set of 4.

No one can prove that though. Remember the big audit not so long ago into oil companies fuel pricing and ACCC proved there was nothing "suspicious" about that "price cycle". All to do with supply and demand. Screws me how they come to that as I actually thought fuel demand would drop on weekends unless more than I think commute on a Sunday. :? What a pandoas box if oil companies could be proven to be "profiteering" !!!!

As for injectors probably

You're making several big assumptions:
1. The ACCC has the resources to properly investigate this matter.
2. The ACCC has the legal powers required to properly investigate this matter.
3. The Goverment would listen to what the ACCC had to say about it.
4. The Government would do something about it.

and yet.... hope is all we have.

300 TDI injector prices

Hi folks,
My old man got a brand new set of injectors installed in his 95 disco today. Paid @ $180 each for brand new bosch ones from the local injection joint in Mildura. The old ones where pulled out and where very clean considering the miles 360000k's but the pressures that the injectors cracked off at was done from 200 bar to 175 bar, hence the drop in fuel consupmtion. Will report back in a later post to report on a change in fuel consumption.

Cheers Gaz

The diesel guru at the shop reckons that the condition of the old mans disco injectors where great and coudn't beleive the miles it had done (360000). Most are stuffed around @ 150000 k's. Town driving, stop/start kills most injectors apparently. Dad's driving is mostly long distance and towing a tandem trailer. Also running a diesel at too cool a temperature can cause problems on certain injectors too. Not sure if that relates to the 300 TDI though.

Cheers Gaz
