I recently was given a new work ute, a Ranger with the 2.2, don't know if it's the same 6speed as the Puma but that's what I was thinking.

So 3.8's available for rover front?

May be better on paper, but on the road I am not so sure. My Td5 is far nicer to get going on the road and through 1st and 2nd than my Tdci is. Once into 3rd the Tdci is far nicer however.

The Tdci obviously has the 1.2 transfer case as well but the ratios of first and second don't seem very well matched IMO

4.337 / 3.32 = 1.30 is how they come up with the 30% figure. They really should just quote low range ratio.

It is not 30% lower but a 30% higher ratio.

Think they could be, but it would at least have a different rear housing and output shaft than the Landy version.

Ashcrofts were working on putting that behind the TD5 at one stage, but it's all gone quiet now.

You could always twin stick the TC makes low to high easy for the uphill starts and put an exhaust brake for the downhills

Actually thought of re-linkage and long stick t/case, but probably not enough room and have often contemplated the exhaust brake option.

So LR should have called low range high range and high range low range given low range is numerically higher

I change low to high a lot already when I'm towing, (low 2 to high 2 ) not really hard, not sure if having the aftermarket gears would affect that.
