RE 6 speed on to TD5

Not sure what 6 speed manual box is in the D3 (mated to 2.7 diesel), but there is currently one manual D3 up for salvage on Pickles.
I believe there are adaptor kits out of UK available to mate that 6 speed box up to LT230 transfer cases.
AS for the front end, I suppose it depends on how large the bell housing is on the D3 box, to be able to fit the TD5 flywheel.

Not worth the effort unless fitting the TDV6 along with it, the MT82 already fits to an lt230 so only requires an adapter or bell housing change.

6sp manual behind the D3 is a ZF box. Which designation I'm not certain. There is the ZF manual used behind the M57 and the there is a smaller (low rated) box used behind the 2L diesels. If there is any commonality to the BMW ZFs in both designations there are adaptors available. there is a BMW engine LR FB page with heap of info. If you ask about commonality you might get 1 sensible answer with the rest telling you to just bolt in a M57 and be done with it (there is some merit to that argument).

While the OP is now 5 years old, M&D sell a MT82 to TD5 adaptor. they have a range of adaptors for the MT82. 300tdi, TD5, RV8.

MT82 has a single piece bellhousing & main case moulding. Would need an adaptor. And give thought to the clutch offset. The MT82 has a longer input shaft compared to the R380. Something like an inch longer.
