    Disco V8 Auto

    What I want to know is the first year that the Disco V8 with Auto used the computor to asist the auto to change . As I want to fit a V8 engine and Auto to fit to a 110 defender . I want to use the earlier V8 and Auto so as I don,tneed the hasles with computor and electricals. As I am a paraplegic and am only allowed to drive an auto Thank you all Cheers Noel

    From 1999 the series 2 Discovery uses a fully electronic controlled transmission. All D1's run a hydraulic trans without electronics up to 1998, same as Range Rovers up to 1994.

    ZF 4H22EH/4H24EH

    These are the auto gearboxes used on the Series II Discovery,both diesel & petrol engines, the 4H24EH being specified for use with the 4.6 V8 in D2A
    You need not use the LR gearbox ECU unless you specifically want to. There are a number of alternative aftermarket auto ECU's available.
