Pedro I think you misunderstand me.

There is a noticeable improvement throughout but is it most noticeable at higher revs, where you are flowing more gasses, hence a freer exhaust system will reap the greatest benefit there.

I'm running a 3.9 as well, max torque at 2500 if memory serves me correctly. The only way you will move or alter the nature of the power and torque curves is to alter the cam'. This is pencilled in on my 'to-do' list as I've clocked up about 205 000km now without having anything other than the rocker covers off to change gaskets.

Hmmm, a reconditioning of the beast....... what to do......?

I'd be dead keen to know the name of the exhaust mob who quoted $450 for a system. I'm going to do my Td5 Defender soon but havent started looking yet.
    Cheers.

    No problemo!!!

    Its an interesting problem,,
    to rebuild
    or
    not rebuild.

a bore (cost) is a bore,, whether it 20, 30 or 40 thou,,,

the bigger the more heat ,, but the better the "go"

its gunna need new a cam, etc etc anyway,,,

If you go the "new" route,,

    let us now,,,

Mines on 280 odd now with no apparent problems,,,

towed the boat up to Gladstone the other week and it ran fine,,
I imagine something like a standard 300TDI,,,,

And how goes it, hiline? That's a fair bit cheaper than the $750 from Troutbeck.

Has anyone done a full exhaust, including extractors on a TDi, i have been told they make the world of difference, but not cheap, some people have told me well over a grand, have i been given a bum steer? Matt
