After changing tyres from BFG AT to MT subj had changed from 10.8 to 11.4 on my TD5. Had AT 34/38 psi (fron/rear), to get best on MT have to pump to 44/46 psi.

Best I've got was first few trips with long range tank.
    Got mid 10s - low 11 litres/100kms.
Most of the time 'normal driving' got aroung the 12litres/100kms.
Towing (depending on loads) around 14l/100km,
Biggest towed load (Trip to Alice Springs - Finke Desert Race) towed around 3 tonnes, sat on 100km/hr, got around 16 to 18l/100km.
All above was with a standard TD5 Defender 110.
With motor chipped, last trip back from Melbourne, towing around 2 tonnes, driving into head wind, and in a hurry, got about 18l/100k

Have yet to try an economy run with chipped motor, just too much fun driving it at the moment.

But we want a cheap family car for the wife to run around in , so thinking a 3.9 rangie. But we also need to pop over to Norseman , from Brisbane next christmas for a family thing. But as i have a Holden Ute s as a company car and the wife works in the city of Brisbane (so she cathces the bus) it will not be used during the week only at the weekend. But the 90 and the Ute are only 2 seaters so we want a 5 seater car, which will do Maybe 300k's a month if poss. The wife was talking about a diesel. Which means a Disco, as you did not have the classic rangie tdi here.
But i would have to get a 1995 onwards disco as the treance conran dash is ugly in my mind. Brown is liveable just , blue, well thats another matter

But we would have to pay 5-8000 $ more for a disco than a rangie which i like better anyway, just to save $800 when we pop over to Norseman.
So talked her into a Rangie again , so bring on the rangie. Maybe get the goverment to fit gas to it for nothing too . But not many gas places in the simpson or Alice though
HEY!- I OBJECT TO THAT snide comment about LORD Conran - he got a life peerage for doing the Diso interior you know.......lol.....it's all personal taste.....I think it's held up well - remember the Disco design brief was 1/2 way between a RR and a Defender.....he did OK.....and you can hose them out if you take out carpets, avoid wetting seats, not wet electrics.....mmmmmm OK, so just wipe clean!!.....LOL

18-20l/100km around town in the V8 Disco

About 37l/100km in the Rangie. 4.6l V8 with Carby's and running 35's. But that figure is mostly low range tough tracks.

I was still averaging 11.4/100 in the 130. I now get 0/0 since it hasn't moved after returning from Ace's last event.

If the air con is running at the correct pressures (and thus draw on horse power) between 4 and 7% would be about right, assuming it needed to run all the time - but as we know the compressor should cut in and out , if it doesn't it's either bloody hot or there is something wrong with the system. So that would equate to between 2 and 3.5%

New TD5 Defender (10000 klms) 9.5 to 10 ltrs/100klms. On recent extended trip including slow desert driving average of 10 with worst of 11ltrs/100klms.
