    Defender TD5 tacho

I called in to the dealer and found there is a tacho you can buy that fits where one of the smaller instruments go for about $200. Looking at it, it is actually a VDO unit. My question is with the installation! Where do I find the pulse wire for it? I know on aftermarket units you use one of the outputs from the alternator, however I have also been told with the OE unit it is a wire from the ECU. Does anyone know which one???

when i asked the mechanic at the dealership he said pin 21

im starting to thing it might vary from year to year, might be using different ecu's with different wiring.

safest way is to check the pins with a good digital multi meter that has a pulse counter on it. (such as a fluke)

ecu's damage easily and then damage wallets.

im after one myself and am considering the extra cost to get the dealership to fit it for the warranty side of things.
