They'll do the job OK ... just look a bit strange.

I had a Disco with alloys and a steel spare.

If you wish, why not pick up a set of normal nuts from a wrecker. Cheap as chips.

I'd disagree here and say they are not adequate and my advice would be not to use them. The alloy wheels actuall rest of on the nut, not on the stud, so these nuts aren't designed for the job at hand. I'd spend the little extra and get five nuts for steelies. They're pretty cheap. The rim nuts are only $20 each.

Yes, if you have a look at your nuts ( 8O ...the alloy wheel ones), you'll see they're chamfered to at the base to accomodate steel wheels. The early alloy nuts weren't like this but when LR started fitting some models with steel spare wheels, they redesigned the alloy nuts to fit the steel wheel also.
As Rosco says, they do look a bit stange though when fitted to steel rims.

Don't know where you are getting your nuts from (LRA?), but I bought a full set for my steel wheels for about $5-6 ea from memory. Toorak Tractor factory in Braeside.

And yes, do not use alloy type nuts on steel wheels.

$20 was for the alloys. Not bought a set of steels as yet but your price sounds about right. No, I wouldn't buy that stuff from LRA either! Their price was $35 for the alloys or something.
