I've had 3 from the US and 3 from the UK this year.
All under $300 AUD and only 1 opened and no problems.
Looking next at a cluch kit and save $200 which would be the bigest I have got.
    I've used Cradocks.

    Hi Guys,

I've bought several items over the last couple of years from Dingocroft in the UK: www.dingocroft.co.uk.
Strange name but great service and prices.

Typically works out to about 40 to 50% less than the local stealers prices to have the part delivered to my door. For example, just bought an ABS brake light switch: $38 at my door from the UK Vs $66 quoted by a Brisbane dealer; Disco 'doughnut' rear uni: about $120 from UK Vs ~$220 quoted by a Toowoomba dealer. Similar story for various other parts.

By the way, all the above are for genuine LR boxed parts. They can often do OEM parts for even better prices. Tell Tim I sent you...

My understanding, having just been 'stung' by Customs, is that 'private use' items with an invoice value under A$250 (including frieght) come through for free (but can be inspected to make sure the declared value isn't dodgy). Above that value you get charged 10% GST PLUS an inspection fee of about A$50!

I found this out when I recently bought a test instrument for Thermoguard from the UK. Total price was about A$495 including courier freight - got stung $49.50 GST plus the ~$50 inspection fee. Tried to argue with Customs that the fee was a bit steep - I mean, charging 50 bucks for the priviledge of paying my $50 GST, but you can imagine how much success I had with that... Still this was the first time I've ever been charged any GST, so I'm still well in front overall.

A resource I'm sure you'll find useful, given the thread topic.

But I think you are charged GST on the cost+duty+freight.
