Wondering where the other holes lead to not the pistons the bit the push rods go into no idea what there technical name is.
Though I have blocked the holes just want to make sure there isn't any crap in them, fluid of all sorts have got down there for sure.
My guess is they lead straight on through to the sump so thinking of removing the sump and giving them abit of a blast with the air to make sure they all clear.
Just want confirmation first I guess unless someone has better ideas.

So now you need to get some rags and block up all the bores and lifter bores, scrape the head clean then use a scotchbrite and wd40 to clean it till it shines.
So how much all up for the other parts plus shipping ?

I have blocked holes scraped it and just in proccess of making it shiny pretty sure not got any crap down holes but certainly some fluids have gone down there (coolant, degreaser spray, wd40, kero) Im guessing all that would drain down to the sump?

Successfull afternoon heading into evening head is now in place and properly torqued as well as my home made degree wheel would manage which honestly cant be to different from a store bought one.
Anyway a couple of tips for anyone replacing or install a head on a 300tdi in a disco1 maybe other models too but not sure.
Your last 2 head bolts at the rear of block numbers 16 & 18 I think must be put through head before putting head in place as that slight overhang on the top of the firewall wont allow the bolts to be put in place once head is on.
Don't install that last stud for rockers until head is properly tensioned otherwise its a real pain to get to number 16.
Unless the aircon unit has been removed glowplug 1 will have to be put in place before head is put on block also otherwise there isn't enough clearance to get in there.

Did you use something to hold up the two rear bolts so you wouldn't damage the new head gasket while you were installing the head, Regards Frank.
