you can extend the wire that acts as the ariel - this improves reliability and the range of the remote.

That'd be handy in the wet being able to unlock the car from a fair distance if the transmitter is up to the distance to the car.

from painful experience I'd like to add my 20c worth:

the emergency flashers coming on etc over corrugations is definitely the immobiliser being overly sensitive. The fix you mentioned is not entirely complete but is documented in the manual, I think you have to use the key to arm and disarm the ignition/immobiliser 3 times from the ignition. ...I think (sorry The Cook's got the car and the manual).

Disco immobilisers are crap, crap crap. Mine has stuffed so many times, I've had most of the circuits bypassed now, otherwise its megabucks to replace.

Have tried lengthening and re-positioning the aerial and it works. Mine was all coiled up behind the dash(glovebox area I think).

As for range of remotes, try this... find the longest point of successful operation of fob, then walk a little distance further.

Then, operate the key fob holding it against the side of your head!!!!

Easily doubles the range, depending on the size of your head (and the contents...joking, joking). No health issues I'm told but its useful to scare the crap out of friends near your car in the carpark.

The Cook says, given my failing memory, I've obviously been pointing the key remote to the wrong place...perhaps further south.

Landrover remotes are the worst part of the car ( IMO ), ditch it , and get an aftermarket alarm/central locking .
