Santiago got back to me and is sending the contact details of a shop in Buenos Aries that ships worldwide.
I was going to text it but I've left my phone in the car.....
Yep,
Here is the link:
International 2.8 or 300TDI for rebuild - Page 2 - The D-90 Source
Wish you good luck and I am sorry to hear the story of the 2.8 TGV. I own the same engine.
Let me know if I can help from here.
Cheers,
Stgo
A big thanks to Rick for getting in contact with Santiago. And thank you Santiago for your efforts and information provided in your link. I have just sent off a parts list for pricing.
cheers
Sergio
Well the parts finally arrived. I ended up using M&D engineering in the UK. The supplier Santiago provided a link to never returned my emails? I also tried Holland, they were more expensive on parts alone. I tried Aus, NZ, USA but no one carries parts for the HS2.8tgv.
care to share a run down on the prices?
It is finally at the reassemble stage:
Head work: $440 - stripped, hardness, crack and leak tested. Skimmed, completely cleaned and reassembled with new valve stem seals.
Turbo: $125 - partial dismantel, check, clean and service
Injection $320 - Injection pump put through a full run simulation on a test bed, injectors checked (free)
Machine work: $600- block bored, platue honed, decked and cleaned. Conrods checked for length, straight and twist, pistons skimmed and balanced. (rods where very good for balance stock so did not need it)
So the block was bored, honed and decked. It went back to the mechanic, where he set it up with crank, rods and pistons to check deck height and each individual piston height. The pistons were then sent back to the machinest to be skimmed accordingly so they are more or less the exact same height above deck at TDC.
In picture #3 you will see that piston #2 has not been skimmed. This was the lowest and therefore the datum for the others.
The block is set up level via the crank tunnel and the top face, where the head bolts onto is skimmed flat. Pat
